Besan Ladoo
Sweet is one thing that I miss the most on festival days here. Exchanging sweets on auspicious days is a well known tradition in India. With no good option of buying sweets here, I learned to make sweets at home. Besan Ladoo is a famous sweet, made from Besan (gram flour), ghee and sugar.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
Ingredients
- Besan: 1 1/2 cup
- Sugar: 3/4 cup
- Melted ghee (Butter): 1/2 cup
- Cardamom powder: 1 teaspoon
- Sliced Pistachios : 1 tablespoon
Preparation
- Mix the besan and ghee in a pan.
- Put the pan on medium heat and roast the besan mix by stirring constantly.
- Roast it till its light golden brown in color. Takes about 8-10 minutes
- When done remove the pan from heat and let it cool down till its little warm. it should not be completely cool.
- Mix in the cardamom powder and sugar.
- Now take a big spoonful of besan mixture in your palm and make a round and smooth ladoo out of it. Do the same for rest of the mixture.
- Take the slices pistachios, dip them in little ghee/butter and press gently on top of the besan ladoo so that it sticks to it.
