Traditional Chicken Curry

Chicken curry is one of the most popular recipes for chicken lovers. This recipe is simple with aroma of whole spices.

Ingredients

  • Chicken: 800 gm
  • Onion: 1 big
  • Tomato: 2 medium
  • Ginger and garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Yogurt: 1 tablespoon
  • Garam masala: 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder: ½ teaspoon
  • Cumin seed: ½ teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil: 3 tablespoon
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • Green chili to garnish

Preparation

  1. Cut and clean the chicken. Marinate it with yogurt, salt,turmeric powder, chili powder, ½ tablespoon of oil for about 30 minutes.
  2. Cut the onion and tomatoes into small pieces.
  3. Heat the remaining oil in pan.
  4. Add the cumin seed, bay leave, Cardamom, Pepper, Cinnamon and Cloves to it.
  5. Follow with the cut onions. Add a little bit of salt and fry till the onions are light brown in color. The salt helps to cook the onion faster.
  6. Add the ginger garlic paste and cook till the raw smell is gone. This will take about 4 minutes.
  7. Then add the chopped tomatoes and garam masala and cook for another 3 minutes.
  8. Now add the marinated chicken and fry on high heat for 2 minutes.
  9. Cover the pan and cook on low to medium heat for around 15 minutes.
  10. When done garnish with coriander and green chili.
