Husband is out of town on work and I find it hard to cook only for myself. When I am alone I always prefer food that takes less time and effort to prepare. Yesterday I prepared this Mackerel fish fry which is really really simple yet gives the authentic taste.

Preparation time: 20 minutes
Cooking time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • Fish: 500 grams
  • Turmeric powder: 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chili powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala: 1/2 teaspoon (optional)
  • Oil: 3 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  1. Clean and wash the fish.
  2. Rub some salt, turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala (if using) on the fish and let it marinate for about 20 minutes.
  3. Heat the oil in a nonstick pan.
  4. When the oil is hot add the fish one by one.
  5. Lower the heat and cover the pan. Cook for about 7-8 minutes on both sides or till it is brown in color.
  6. Serve by squeezing fresh lime juice on top of it.
