Lamb with yogurt and tomatoes

The lamb is marinated then cooked slowly in yogurt and tomatoes sauce in low heat. Perfect to serve with naan bread.

Preparation Time: 45 minutes

Ingredients

  • Lamb/Goat : 300 grams
  • 1 medium tomato chopped
  • Natural Yogurt: 200 ml
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • Crushed garlic : 1/2 tablespoon
  • Crushed Ginger : 1/2 tablespoon
  • Gram Masala : 1 teaspoon
  • Chili Powder : 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Seed : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cinnamon Stick : 1 inch
  • 3-4 cardamom pods
  • 3-4 cloves
  • Oil : 1 1/2 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  1. In a blender/grinder blend together the yogurt, tomato, ginger, garlic, garam masala, chili powder, cumin seeds and salt.
  2. Remove the sauce in a mixing bowl. Add lamb to the sauce and mix well. Marinate it for about an hour in a cool place.
  3. Heat oil in a heavy bottom frying pan. Add cinnamon stick, cardamom pods and cloves. Then add chopped onion and fry in medium heat until they are golden brown.
  4. Add lamb and cook in medium to low heat until the lambs are completely cooked. If required add some hot water.
  5. Serve hot with naan.
